Aimee Whatley, web designer...
Why does my portfolio feature such an emphasis on standards-compliant CSS design? As with all web technologies, there are benefits and drawbacks to its use, but as more and more browsers become standards-compliant the benefits of CSS-driven design have become obvious. CSS-driven design:
- Saves on bandwidth. Leaner pages require less bandwidth to render.
- Requires far less code. The cleaner, clearer-looking code is easier to maintain, saving your budget from hours of editing.
- Accessible pages and DDA compliance. Websites designed with CSS are far easier for text-reading browsers and PDAs to display.
- Better SERPs. Search Engine Ranking Placements are greater when your page isn't cluttered with table tags filled with meaningless and empty images.
I am currently available for front-end design and development, Wordpress theme generation, information design and accessibility auditing.
